Birsa Agriculture University : was
established in the year 1981 with a view to develop area specific agricultural
technologies for Chotanagpur Plateau region and economic upliftment of inhabitants of this
region. It consists of three colleges namely i) Ranchi Agriculture College ii) Ranchi
Veterinary College iii) College of Forestry. It is a residential university.It is situated
in Kanke, Ranchi which is 10 kms from Ranchi City. |

Institute of Psychiatry : was established in 1918 by British as Ranchi
European Lunatic asylum.The main objective of the institute was to look after the mental
health of the society . It is spread over around 400 acres. It has many firsts to its
credit in neuroscience e.g. the mental health act (1987) was written at CIP, Ranchi. |

the year 1955 by noted philanthropist and industrialist Mr. B.M. Birla with a view to
develop manpower in technical fields. It is a residential and deemed university. It is

Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences : the college was
established in the year 1960 by Bihar Government in collaboration with Govt. of India. The
medical college hospital comes into existence in Feb 1965. Previously , RIMS was known as
RMCH. It is spread over in 200 acres of land. It is situated in Bariatu, Ranchi which is
six kms from Ranchi. |
